Honoring Carol & Bob Caravana
2022 Recipients of the Cornerstone of Equality Award
Carol (she/her) and Bob (he/him) Caravana embody everything that is Greater Boston PFLAG. They attended their first support group in 2012, after their son shared with them that he is transgender. And they’ve been involved ever since.
From facilitating groups and mentoring countless caregivers, to advocating for the Massachusetts Transgender Rights Bill and against the ballot question that attempted to repeal it, Carol and Bob have done it all. Since 2015, they’ve also been instrumental in planning the youth and family sessions for First Event, a conference for transgender and gender expansive people and their loved ones. And Carol serves on LexPride’s board of directors, where she has been the clerk since 2020.
For their endless dedication and commitment to helping not only their Greater Boston PFLAG family, but the entire LGBTQ+ community, Carol and Bob are an inspiration.
Celebrating the Next Generation of Leaders,
Our 2022 GBPFLA Scholarship Recipients
We were thrilled to announce our 2022 Scholarship recipients, Sai Gudempati (he/him) and Zoe Lemos (she/her) and to celebrate them and their inspiring efforts to ‘make it better now’ in their communities! Learn more about these youth leaders and their fantastic work promoting LGBTQ+ inclusion and acceptance, and read more about our scholarship program, and the work of some of our past awardees, who were selected for their leadership around transgender rights advocacy, intersex awareness, social change through the arts, and more.
Applauding Our Dedicated Volunteers
Greater Boston PFLAG would not exist without our 163 committed volunteers. They do it all – from running groups and answering our helpline, to public speaking and helping with events. We were thrilled to spotlight some of our key volunteers at Pride & Passion this year.
