About PFLAG Greater Boston
Greater Boston PFLAG is proud to be part of the legacy that Jeanne Manford started by supporting her gay son in New York City in 1973. Jeanne wrote a letter to the editor, which evolved into a support group and then spiraled into a national movement. Allies, parents/caregivers, and families are at the heart of our mission and they work tirelessly to support, educate, and advocate for LGBTQ+ people and their families.
Greater Boston PFLAG’s first support group convened in Cambridge in 1978 by a bold group of parents who believed their LGBT children deserved to be safe, included in all community spaces, and have the same rights as any other child.
Today, decades later, we continue the work of Jeanne and so many countless other volunteers and gather annually to celebrate our collective commitment to creating a safe and inclusive world at Pride & Passion. Pride & Passion is our annual fundraiser that allows us to honor exceptional allies and/or LGBTQ+ individuals with the Cornerstone of Equality Award, who embody the spirit of Jeanne and uses their voice to make the world a better place for LGBTQ+ individuals in Massachusetts and beyond.
Pride & Passion will be held on Wednesday, April 26th from 6–9:30 PM at the Beehive in Boston’s South End. We’ll also have a livestreaming option for folks who want to stay virtual! Registration is required for both in-person and virtual attendance and is coming soon.
There will be a VIP reception before the event begins with appetizers and cocktails for honorees, elected officials, and sponsors. The event will include a paddle raise to raise funds for Greater Boston PFLAG by a lively emcee and some performances happening throughout the night around the venue.
