Elsie Frank Scholarship Program
Each year Greater Boston PFLAG awards thousands of dollars in scholarships to high school seniors who have demonstrated leadership in improving their school’s climate for LGBT youth.
Applicants must be planning to enroll in a 2 or 4 year college or technical/vocational school in the next academic year. Awards are not based on grades or financial situation. All students are welcome to apply: lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer, questioning, or straight. People of color and trans youth are encouraged to apply.
Greater Boston PFLAG’s Elsie Frank Scholarships honor the late mother of Massachusetts Congressman Barney Frank. Mrs. Frank was a member of Greater Boston PFLAG’s Honorary Board and a lifelong advocate for the rights of marginalized people.
We will be awarding $10,000 this year. Awards will be presented at our 8th Annual Pride and Passion Party on Saturday, May 15, 2010 at the Back Bay Events Center in Boston and at Youth Pride on May 8, 2010 in Boston. If you have further questions please call 781-891-5966. See the list of Elsie Frank scholarship recipients from previous years.
National PFLAG also offers scholarships. Students may apply for both National PFLAG and Greater Boston PFLAG scholarships and are eligible to win more than one. Learn More.
